Rector

RICHARD JONES was born in India and grew up in North London. After reading Law and Politics at university he spent 15 years working as a management consultant and then in senior management in both commercial and not for profit organisations.
 
Following ordination in 2004, he served as Curate in Ashtead (2004-8) and then as Vicar of St. John's, Burscough in the Diocese of Liverpool (2008-15). During this time, he also served in a number of Deanery and Diocesan positions. He has a passion for discipleship (particularly spiritual formation), mission and pastoral care.
 
Married to Jo, they have two teenage children. To relax, he enjoys the arts, cricket, rugby (supporting Harlequins) and trying to shed a few pounds through getting on his bike.


Associate MinisterNico Hilding Ohlsson

NICO OHLSSON was born and raised in Argentina. He was ordained in 2009 in Buenos Aires and moved to England in 2015 with his job as a Football Anaylst. In August 2017 he started working as the Associate Minister. He is passionate about mission, revival and seing the Church being an agent of transformation.

Nico and Sonia have two sons, both of them born in England, Benjamin and Samuel. They enjoy going for walks with their dog, watching good movies, spending time with friends and obviously a good Argie BBQ.

Assistant Minister

 
TIM LONG moved to Ashtead in 2011 with his wife Kirstie after a ministry as Rector of various parishes over a period of nearly 30 years in the dioceses of Pretoria and Johannesburg in South Africa. Tim and Kirstie came to the UK to join their three children and ten grandchildren living here permanently, and are grateful to have been received so warmly by the community of St Giles' and St George's. Tim's passions are reading theology and literature, listening to classical music, and walking.

JOHN WATTS is an assistant curate whose ministry spans both church and world – in the parish John serves with leading worship, preaching and pastoral care of traditional congregations. John is also a hospital chaplain at a major London teaching hospital and doing research on spiritual care in chronic illness.

BRIAN UNDERWOOD, formerly Vicar of Christ church, St Albans: Now formally retired but with permission to officiate in the diocese of Guildford and in the diocese in Europe. I have served in parishes in the north and south of England and I was the first travelling secretary of Pathfinders and CYFA, then went to Paris as Chaplain (Serving Chantilly, Rouen and Le Havre). After a period as home secretary of the Intercontinental church society CICs.

 
I with my wife Enid (whom I met in Lyon when she was a lectrice in the university there) returned to Lyon to serve in the Rhone-alp (Lyon, Grenoble and Aix Les Bains) on return to England I became a Public School Chaplain then Rector of Bentham St John’s in North Yorkshire until 1992 when we moved to St Albans. I am the monetary historian of ICS and authored a number of books for them. We moved to Tadworth in March 2014 (to be nearer the Children) and have been glad of the welcome at St Giles and St George.
